Happy Monday 2025, may it be a peaceful, prosperous, healthy year for you and yours.
Before the fireworks over Trump’s cabinet picks resume, some preliminary notes:
1-The once and former president is absolutely right about sentencing in the lame NY “hush money” case, which is grossly unfair. The entire case should go away. It deserves to disappear as in dismissal.
2-on this. Anniversary, I have no problem with the 1/6ers being pardoned or offered clemency. America has voted, the time has come.
3-unrelenting pressure must be applied 24/7 to Israel and Hamas for the release of the hostages and an immediate ceasefire. Enough already. Too many innocent lives have been lost. This phase of the Mideast tragedy must end now.
3-agreements must be made between the US and those nations shedding immigrants. The U.S. must announce that it will negotiate their return to their home countries in equitable, humanitarian ways that do not imperil their nations viability. (Otherwise, what’s the point? They’ll just keep coming back).
Economic sanctions and worse can be threatened to ensure cooperation if talks fail.
3a-Mass Deportation is a non-starter. The outrage over non-prioritized expulsions would be unbearable and gut wrenching.
3b-Free the Dreamers.
4-Trump should announce that his first state visit will be to Ukraine or Mexico.
5-Trump should tell Canada, Panama and Denmark (Greenland) that as much as he likes them he was just kidding about owning them.
