Grateful, humbled and enormously relieved to report the fire line held around Topanga Canyon last night. It was 3 days and nights on the edge, the worst wildfires ever, so many lost so much.
I thank God my family is safe. My son Gabriel’s first home and property and his mom’s home nearby are both intact this morning and the wild fire threatening Topanga Canyon has been beat back.
As Deb my daughter-in-law describes, “The fire crews on the ground and in the air were relentless.”
Firefighters were enormously assisted by wicked winds finally diminishing.
Our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones, and to the tens of thousands who lost everything else. It is an epic disaster on a Katrina-like scale. And it will be worse as bodies of humans and pets are recovered.
Malibu will not be restored for years, if ever. Pacific Coast Highway is now a road through a barren hellscape. Relief efforts are beginning. Thank you firefighters and first responders, you are our heroes. This tragedy has nothing to do with DEI or any of that ideologic horseshit you’re hearing from cable news or podcasts. We’ll figure out what went wrong, and whether it was anyone’s fault.
Now, let’s bust the looters and arsonists who aggravated this disaster. God Speed LA’s recovery.
