Geraldo Rivera, Good Night America, has a conversation with Harry Chapin about an issue that man is bringing to the spotlight: The world food crisis. The clip starts with some personal information on the life and times of Mr. Chapin, and we then hear about the issue as it exists in many parts of the world. John Denver sits in on this conversation as well, and we hope that the upcoming World Food Conference will help bring solutions. “The shortest distance in American government is to your local representatives and congressmen.”
Harry Chapin passed away in 1981.
The very first World Food Conference was held under U.N. auspices in November of the same year, 1974. The creation of the World Food Council was one result of this event.
The World Food Council was disbanded in 1991.
