Geraldo Rivera on Good Night America hosts the Monday Night Football trio of the time; Howard Cosell, Frank Gifford and Fred Williamson. This clip starts with a portfolio of Fred ‘The Hammer’ Willliamson, we then meet Frank Gifford and finally the ever-humble Howard Cosell.
During the 1960s, NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle began to visualize at least one game weekly being played, and subsequently broadcoast, during the primetime TV hours. The contract for Monday Night Football began with ABC in 1970.
ABC’s ‘Monday Night Football’ ran it’s final regular show in 2005, with the show then nominally transferred to ESPN.
